Just watched this on Netflix since it was in a recommended list for cerebral fiction.
I'm glad it was.
This is a film that should be among the greats of Utopian thematics in cinema.
But people pass on it because of the fact it's a very '70s film and it can be pretty cryptic. As in, you actually have to be paying attention and have some idea of what the film is trying to say instead of "hurr, ACTION! EXPLOSIONS!, POP CULTURE REFERENCES! GENITALIA HUMOR!".
Is it worth it to live forever if it's in a gilded cage? What is knowledge without wisdom? If all must think the same, are any thinking at all? And if you don't want to live anymore, but cannot die physically, what are you to do but go catatonic or become an outcast?
