You all might have heard from GameInformer that Activision has thought to stop creating game manuals -- They would instead be placing online manuals you would have to log in to view or the game would have a manual inside options.
As since 2004`ish game manuals have lost color, concept art, and only have pictures that are black and white -- with screen shots from in-game.
To me this is just lazy, I liked the way gamecube games, N64 games would have concept art, the characters in the game were drawn. Now you will often see one or two game developers placing concept art in the game manual. Rockstar, the developer & publisher of GTA and Red Dead Redemption, still places a poster inside the game Jewel case with drawn concept art in the manual(in color).
Many other companies do not find it nessicary to have the manuals in color or with a poster; or the company could believe it is giving away free content. Either way, I am sick and tired of so much effort not even put into video games, rather if its the publisher penny pinching or the developer just getting `fed-up thinking their game will not impress... These closed minded ideas should be stopped and the companies should take more pride in their work... Game manuals and all..
