Ok, so, beat GOW, and went into Yakuza 3. Having played Yakuza 1, I sorta knew what to expect.

Still, for some reason Im enjoying this version more then the first one, and not just cause of the graphical update. The game feels more active, with more activity and variety to it, as well as a brighter, more colorful look.

Game play wise, the core fighting of the first games remains, with some improvments and modifications. You start with a standard set of punchs and kicks, but as you gain levels you unlock new moves and techniques.

I call Yakuza a Fighting RPG, cause the combat has more in common with Final fight or Fighting force then it does with Final fantasy. You fight in small contained arenas, against small groups of enemies or one on one with strong boss charecters with a number of different moves and abilities.

You can aquire health items, weapons, and various other stat boosting gear.

THe story is effective, even if the translation isn't the best. I won't go into detail, but the game provides a good option for recap if you need it and continues the story in a fun and intersting manner.

I've only gotten about 30 percent in, by my estimate, so I can't say how it all pans out, but im impressed with the variety of activity, from fishing, to pool, to darts, to bowling and so forth.

If you want an rpg with a different take on combat and a more relatable setting then FF, Yakuza might be for you.

Rent it first if your unsure, but be sure you can give at least 3 days time where you can play to make some real progress.
