This article does a pretty good job at explaining why I like the character, and how the game has so many small touches which make it awesome. I'm not much of an action platformer. I liked God of War for the most part, but I didn't really feel the need to play it through. Devil May Cry I also liked but still I've made much more of a connection with this game. There are about 50 combos when you start out, and even more epic ones are unlockable later on. There are great rewards for perfect or near-perfect execution and this is facilitated through an excellent dodge mechanic. The supporting characters are perhaps a bit shallow and at times it's fairly evident that they are there so Bayonetta can look awesome or make jokes with their setups.
Anyways, if you like games like this you should definitely play it.
