Well, I saw it this afternoon. Went in expecting something like Jumper, a shallow special effects film, but got something completely different.
The effects are actually very low-key. The setting is in an alternate-world Hong Kong where Nazi research actually found psychics, and after WW2 everybody started their own psychic army research, but all attempts to create a "psychic steroid" drug have lethal results. Until one test subject revives after getting injected and escapes the facility.
The film is really interesting in that the characters are smart, the camera work is reserved and not fast-cut like most new films are, and the plot keeps you guessing the different truths right up until the end, where they actually all get resolved.
And Dakota Fanning pulls off one hell of a job as a 13 year-old precog who basically leads the entire series of events.
Plus the more real-world terms to describe the types are a nice change too:
Pre-cogs: Watchers
TK: Movers
telepathic memory planters: Pushers
Scent-based hunter-trackers(pull psychic traces using smell): Sniffers
Body healers/breakers: Stichers
Banshee screams: Screamers
and so on.
I highly recommend it.
