[B]Myth:[/B] Carbon released by man increases global temperatures.
[B]Fact:[/B] Human generation of CO2 is less than 1% of natural sources. Further, while there is a correlation between carbon dioxide and temperatures, the causative effects are usually read backwards. CO2 increases [I]follow[/I] temperature increases due to the fact that most natural storage points are sensitive to changes of only a few degrees.

Further, methane (a greenhouse gas 50 times as powerful as CO2) deposits in the ocean would be easily broken up by small temperature changes.

Finally, the treatment of CO2 as bad. CO2 is a necessary part of the environment. Plants grow bigger, faster, and produce better fruit when they have higher concentrations available. In fact, we are at a very low point now. Below 50-100ppm plants start dying, which kills everything else. As of now normal concentrations are around 200-250ppm, while a thousand years ago it was at 600ppm or higher

[B]Myth:[/B] Temperatures are higher than they should be.
[B]Fact:[/B]Total 20th century temperature rise is only .5C. And most of that before 1940, when major industrialization started. And after recovery from a [I]drop[/I] in the '70s.

Temperatures are, in fact, [I]lower[/I] than they were 3000 years ago.
