Hello. I've been reading GP quite a while, actually I just finally got around to looking at the forums, and I didn't want to be rude, so I thought I'd do a quick "introduce myself" thread.
I suppose the major categories are the easiest way:
1) Gamer: since Atari. Pretty much little bit of everything for decades. I'm not entirely certain my tombstone won't have a little LCD screen with a gif animation of Pac-Man dying on infinite loop.
2) Politically: Pretty conservative. Notice I said conservative, not republican. I'm at a stage in my life where even though I'm registered republican, I'm incredibly frustrated with the party. Economic policy has always been my number one interest, and republicans in general haven't seemed to want to get anything done lately in terms of domestic policy. That fact drives me nuts. Oh sure, I'm not blind to things, I know they're exerting what influence they have to pursue their international agenda in terms of trade and taxes. Still, though it may be selfish of me, I LONG for us to spend less time and resources on other country's problems and more on our own.
(and because politics and religion are intertwined)
3) Religion: Kinda aetheist, kinda not. Born catholic, never really believed. Not so interested in a methodology that says I don't have to take responsibility for my own actions. That doesn't necessarily mean I don't believe in god though. As I get older I'm beginning to understand concepts like faith in a way that I never really dreamed was possible when I was a kid. It's because of this that I tend to have substantially more sympathy for organized religion then allot of the aetheists I've met.
That's the brief 411. I don't expect to post much, so the regulars may not see me around allot, but you never know, things change. All the same, I don't promise not to lurk.
