It's a local news, but I wanted to share it with you. This month, veteran French gaming magazine Joystick published its 200 th number. They are not related to website Jostiq, also a confusion was made last year at E3 Convention.

In fact, the story starts in november 9th, 1988, with a weekly called Joystcik Hebdo. At first, it essentially dealt with game solutions and cheats. Then, 1 year later, the team behind the magazine decided they had more to say, and in January 1990, the monthly game magazine Joystick was really born. I remember the first time I saw it : I was a Sega fanboy, and I was amazed to see such a big gaming magazine, with so many PC games of all kind. I also enjoyed the Joystick team's mix of professionalism and great sense of humour. A lot of veterans and "great names" of the French video game press became member of the Joystick team : Michel Desangles, Alain-Huygues Lacour, Cyrille Baron (now game developper in England), and also the late Sébastien Hamon, a.k.a. Seb, a.k.a. Sebansky, popular among French gamers, who committed suicide 2 years ago, and left a heartbreaking farewell message on his blog.

Joystick was bought by the press group Hachette, then by another press group called Future Corp. in 2003, as well as many other French game magazines. Most of the people who worked in Joystick just before 2003 created a new gaming weekly magazine, called Canard PC. Right now, Joystick is the oldest gaming magazine in France, and the last survivor of the 1980's generation of gaming magazines. Its main rivals, Tilt and Génération 4, respectively born in 1982 and 1987, disappeared respectively in 1994 and 2003.

So here it is : I just wanted to with a happy 200th number to Joystick and share it with you all.
