Saw this today, and I really can't actually review the film since the entire thing is spoiled by what is arguably the worst marketing for a film in the history of bad marketing, I kid you not. If you've seen the commercials for this movie, then you know the ending.
Plus, a year before the movie came out, I made a huge mistake of reading an interview where either Frank Darabont or one of the producers says "I don't want to give anything away, but basically, here's the ending." I thought for sure that was a joke to psyche people out for the real suprise ending. It wasn't. I get the sense that if the marketing geniuses behind The Mist got their hands on The Empire Strikes Back, the trailer would have ending with Darth Vader saying, "No, Luke, I am your-"
I don't know if I would have liked the movie more if it hadn't been for the ending, or even if they used the same ending but didn't go way out of their way to exclaim to all and sundry "Omg omg suprise twist ending!"
To sum it all up, it's all the Beam, it's all Nineteen, and The Mist is a movie I could have wait to seen on video. After leaving the theatre, I would have added "If ever," but the disappointment of waiting for this movie for years has worn off a little since then.
