I started an internship with an internet start-up.

The site is called Talent-Trove, and we're going live in Alpha some-time next week.

The site is kind of like American Idol on the internet. A mix of the best features of MySpace, YouTube, and Monster.com.

It's what we call a talent portal. A place for people with all kinds of talents to display their work, but more importantly, to be discovered.

We'll be hosting contests of varied sorts constantly with prizes like important industry hook-ups, passes to special industry events, and other great prizes that really help people to gain the exposure they deserve.

We deal with all kinds of art, visual, performing, literary, etc. We even encourage people to start syndicated programs like cooking shows etc. and allow users to subscribe and comment and vote and give you the exposure your talents deserve.

In a later stage we intent to set up a separate log-in for talent-SEEKERS to come and browse the site, similar to monster.com and find talents they're looking for in a "resume finder" sort of fashion, except the resumes are the profile pages of the users.

I really have a ton of faith in this site and I really feel like it's going to be a huge success for a number of reasons.

For starters, the entire application has been written at an enterprise level from the beginning. There have been similar sites that have popped up and gone the way of the buffalo all because they were coded in PHP and other languages that simply aren't mean to handle that level of media streams and data loads. We recently signed a contract with Vitalstream, one of the leading media server companies out there. This is the same company that handles MySpace's media streams among many other clients. So the application is very robust and capable. The site is also very efficient and easy to use, you'll all get to see it once we go live.

I have every confidence that this idea is going to blow a lot of sites way out of the water, and will further propel the internet as the future of media delivery and creative outlets.

Sounds like a cool idea? I want to know what you guys think, because I report back to these guys. It's a small company too, this isn't some corproate venture, it's myself and three other people, the idea guy, the design guy, and the marketer chick, as well as our architect who is never there (he designed the Verizon website just to let you know HIS qualifications), and our 24/7 Java guru who shows up when we tell him to. Either way, I just want to get a survey of people's initial reactions. I know there are some people here who would definitely fall under the demographic we're targetting.
