Is anyone else tired of arbitrarily difficult parts of games? I mean ****, it seems like I can't go for ten minutes in any recent game (and yes I am talking about otherwise good games) without running into another twitch fest, or random race where the AI gets to cheat, or some other task that I'm forced to do in *exactly* the way the designers layed out or I lose.
For example: what prompted me to finally write this topic was that friggan' last Block-head in Okami. 9 points that I only have just over a second to memorise? AND there's little to no margin for error? screw that noise! wouldn't be the first good game I hadn't finished because it decided to be stupidly hard in everything outside of the main story.
What makes that and other things like it so infuriating to me though, is that it IS a frakking GAME! There is no (good) reason to force me as a player to play some stupid mini-game (even worse if it's required to advance the game) 20+ times just because...why are mini-games made difficult?! IS there an actuall reason they should be?
Gah! I guess I'd just prefer it if every game had at least an easy difficulty setting (though ideally there would be no need because game companies wouldnt be listing to ****ing stupid "hardcore" gamers on message boards). That or decide that bonus items don't have to be insanly difficult to get, because really, it's a ****ING GAME!
