So I got an XBox Live account two weeks ago and I'm starting to enjoy it and I made a few friends and got in to a gang on Saints Row as well. Now my mum told me to pack up my stuff and move to another room today so I did just that thinking I will be back up in no time after doing so.
Problem is for both XBox and my PC they use a wireless method to go online one of the major problems with wireless is that the farther you move away from the source of the Internet the more gimped the speed becomes. The room I'm in now is the far back room of the house and the source of the Internet is in the living room. And when I tried to get on Live after I moved my stuff Internet for my PC is down to 18.0 mbps from 54.0 mbps when I was in the room next to the source of the Internet and Live barely works or does not work at all (shows only one bar or says Live does not work). I tried it and I only got to play one game of Saints Row on Live before the Internet crapped out all together for Live and my PC Internet soon went after to the point that it turns off and on. I manged to find an hard line that my sister left behind when she moved out.
So I was wondering is anybody here know the in's and out's of wireless so I can boost my Wi-Fi Internet speed to a better rate for my computer and my XBox?
If you do here are the spects of what my router is and the rough floor plan to my house:
My router is a D-Link DI-624 RevC router. One of these:

And the floor plan for my house goes like this from Internet source to where I'm at now:
Living Room
Kitchen (on left side from Living Room)
Bedroom 1 (where I was before I was forced out)
Front Door Area
Hall/Half Bathroom (on left side at hall start)
Bedroom 2
Bathroom
Large Closet
Bedroom 3 (where I'm at now)
I got a bit of a feeling that I may need to buy a Wi-Fi signal booster to fix this problem (goody more money to spend to fix what my mum sort of crippled) or I may need a very strong router like close to the top grade what businesses use for their Internet and I don't want to really do that because I got my router about two years ago and I had to pay quite a bit to buy it (I got it from a computer store). I don't know what to do anymore really and I don't want to waste 4 months of free XBox Live to tell the truth.
