All MMOs have balance issues. Even MMOs a decade in have balance issues. It's not possible to balance things perfectly. Especially at the beginning of the game major balancing has to be done. I do not completely understand the reasoning but I believe the game being rushed out usually plays a major role. So many bugs and things are reported during testing and aren't fixed before launch so how do you expect them to get to balancing? I put more blame on the money behind the game than the programmers. They are super rushed to finish the game that fine tuning isn't possible before release unless they push for ESOMalls it back. If they push it back they "lose money" and customers are mad and blah blah. So we get a game with a billion bugs and completely unbalanced combinations and then they have to nerf the hell out of the things they let out that were too strong.

Anyone who has played several MMOs from launch know this happens in every one. Some do a better job prior to release than others but there are always game breaking things. I've gone through it with WoW, AoC, Warhammer, SWTOR.. and I'm sure many others have way more experience than me with MMOs at launch. The skills that they initially release will all be changed, tweaked or completely redone eventually.

In this game they made DKs at the top, Sorcs just under them then NBs dont work right and Templars are pretty crappy in comparison too so they have to sort it all out by finding buffs for NB and Templar and nerfing DKs and Sorcs. So you get one of two experiences, either you play as the OP class and level up super easy and have a great time destroying things till you get toned down or you play as the broken gimped classes and learn to play with your broken class and will be happy once you get your buffs and then destroy all the guys who got used to ez mode. It's the natural progression of all MMOs.

I have to admit some surprise at their approach to designing this game. Some of the bugs and design errors are so silly that one has to wonder when their team started making video games - or if they even play them? Of course, there are a lot of talented players on this forum, and their advice and suggestions would go a long way to improving the game.

The guys over at Carbine are doing a really good job with it as I don't really see a lot of calls for nerfs, but their classes are more fixed. You can be a DPS/Tank or DPS/Healer or a hybrid within your class, but overall they are fixed. Much easier to balance I guess.

The tool-tip states that once a stat is overcharged, it is increasingly difficult to raise it further. But does that higher number work as effectively as a lower overcharged number?

Here it is - I have played my sorc rather unconventionally. She's VR3 right now, melee, rolling in 7 light and Bound armor. This puts ESO Gold Store on her at 1700 Spell resist (Overcharged) and 1395 armor. When I pop Thundering Presence she's up to 2412 spell resist and 2284 armor. Obviously both way overcharged.

Does, for example, the 2412 spell resist really block any more spell damage than the already overcharged 1700? I really don't think so as those are rather large numbers, and she still drops regularly to packs of 3 VR mobs. I have the healing Matriarch out and she has saved my sorc more times with that heal than I care to count. On top of food and the 3-stat alchemy potions to... I don't expect to be invincible, but numbers over 2000 look as though she should be resisting more damage than she does.
