Vogue magazine Valentino Sandals joins Israel in banning underage and unhealthy looking models

Following in the footsteps of Israel, the first country to recently ban extremely skinny models, Vogue magazine will adopt a new policy beginning June 2012, that outlaws underage models and models who appear Valentino UK too skinny.

Under the new rules, Vogue magazines will not work with models under the age of 16 or who appear to have an eating disorder. They outline the importance of models who both appear healthy and "help to promote a healthy body image."

Jonathan Newhouse, Cond Nast International chairman said they want the magazines to "reflect their commitment to the health of the models who appear on the pages and the wellbeing of their readers."

Over the years, the standards of beauty for models has encouraged an unhealthy and tragic lifestyle amongst the industry. Israelian fashion photographer Adi Barkan, says:

"Something happened within the last 20years. Models have always been skinny, but not too skinny. But, I have found that the difference between skinny, thin, and too thin, is the difference between life and death." After a model, who suffered from anorexia, died in Barkans arms five years ago, he realized then: "We didn't know how much power we have. We can kill people, and we can save people." The goal of adopting the new BMI requirements will allow more lives to be saved.

Under Vogue magazine's new policy, as Valentino Rockstud Flats enacted on May 3, 2012, the following six promises have been made:

"1. We will not knowingly work with models under the age of 16 or who appear to have an eating disorder. We will work with models who, in our view, are healthy and help to promote a healthy body image.

"3. We will help to structure mentoring programs where more mature models are able to give advice and guidance to younger girls, and we will help to raise industrywide awareness through education, as has been integral to the Council Valentino Sneakers of Fashion Designers of America Health Initiative.

"4. We will encourage producers to create healthy backstage working conditions, including healthy food options and a respect for privacy. We will encourage casting agents not to keep models unreasonably late.

"5. We Valentino Slingback Pumps encourage designers to consider the consequences of unrealistically small sample sizes of their clothing, which limits the range of women who can be photographed in their clothes, and encourages the use of extremely thin models.

"6.
