Therefore, I am reviewing Yu-Gi-Oh as a novice tothe intricacies of dueling strategy.Although thegame is based on the cartoon, the main character is new. You awaken with nomemory of who you are or how you arrived at your current location in SatelliteCity. As you attempt to find your way back to your past, you will interact withfamiliar locations and characters from the show.Of course,the main aspect of the Runescape game is dueling. There are two modes of gameplay, Storymode and World Championship mode. Story mode is the campaign mode, where Runescape playerswill take their customized character through alternating duels and racing. Dueling takes up the larger part of the Runescape game, with the racing really existingfor a change in pace. This is not to say that the racing isn’t fun, it is;however, it’s not a compelling part of the Runescape game.Right offthe bat, it’s instant dueling when in Story mode. I expected some type ofdescription of the rules, or a tutorial of sorts disguised as an easy firstlevel. Unh uh. What I got was a duel where I had no idea of what to do. Butthis was my own fault, because the manual clearly states that there is atutorial in the Championship mode. Yep, that’s what happens the one time Idon’t look at the manual first.Anyway,after playing through the basic levels of the tutorials a few times, I feltconfident enough to hit the trail again in Story mode. This time, I won thefirst duel and continued on my merry way. The tutorials are designed very well,and explain the rules of the Runescape game in easily digestible sections. The tutorialmode begins with an overview of the Runescape game, and then breaks the Runescape game down into thedifferent phases of the turns, and the basic features of the card types.Subsequent chapters discuss more advanced topics. There is a test at the end ofeach tutorial, and some of the tutorials lead the Runescape player through the actions ofthe Runescape game being discussed.The firstfew duels aren’t too difficult, but all subsequent duels can be very difficult. The difficulty level seems random, and doesn’t appear to ratchet upsequentially. Also, for novice Runescape players, simply going through the tutorials isnot going to be sufficient enough to get a good feel for which cards to choosewhen building a deck, and to understand the nuances of the advanced decks.http://www.rssong.com
