The late John Mack, a former Harvard professor, psychiatrist, and a recipient of the Pulitzer Prize had admitted that people are actually having legitimate experiences with extraterrestrial beings, or at the very least, are being completely genuine in their accounts. The professor revealed this information in an interview with NOVA.
In this interview, Professor Mack provides a detailed description of the affects that alien abductions have on people.
“There are several effects that these experiences have for those who undergo alien abduction encounters. First is the most familiar aspect or fit, which is a traumatic event in which a blue light or some kind of energy paralyzes the person, whether they're in their home or they're driving a car. They can't move.”
He also claims that some people have dual identities as both aliens and humans, as they are alien hybrids.
“Sometimes along the way, as you go deeper and deeper into the person's consciousness, into their experience, they will discover....what is called a dual identity. In other words, that they are both human—in one dimension; but they also are themselves, have an alien identity.”
Professor Mack further explains how accounts of alien abductions cannot be explained with theories of neurology or hypnogogic hallucinations.
“These experiences often occur in literal consciousness. Not in a hypnogogic or dreamlike state. The person may be in their bedroom quite wide awake. The beings show up. And there they are and the experience begins. That they're not occurring in any dreamlike state.”
John Mack talks about 5 factors that prove that most of the accounts of alien abductions are not made up or not the results of hallucination. He talks about the extreme consistency of the stories from person after person, which we would not get simply by stimulating the temporal lobes. We would instead get very variable idiosyncratic responses that would differ a great deal from person to person.
Professor Mack also tells us that there is no experimental basis for the abductees to come up with these experiences on their own.
“You would have to deal with the fact that there is no ordinary experiential basis for this. In other words, there's nothing in their life experience that could have given rise to this, other than what they say. In other words, there's no mental condition that could explain it.”
He then talks about the physical aspect of abduction accounts and how abductees suffer from cuts and other lesions.
“You have to account for the physical aspects: the cuts and the other lesions on their bodies, which do not follow any psychodynamic distribution, like the stigmata associated with the identification with the agony of Christ.”
He then tells us that there is a tight association of UFOs with these abduction events, independent of person having the abduction experience. At times, the UFO sightings in the vicinity of the abductees are reported by the media and the abductees themselves are unaware of these reports.
Finally, he tells us how this phenomenon occurs in young children as well.
“The phenomenon occurs in children as young as two, two and a half, three years old. And any theory that simply attributes this to the activity of the brain, does not take into account at least three of those five fundamental dimensions.”
Alien abductions are reported by people from around the globe. Those who claim to have been abducted by aliens are often ridiculed by people. Perhaps it is time that we listen to their stories with respect.
