The crooks build online profiles in the names of unwitting FIFA -approved agents.Then they scour the internet for hopefuls on Facebook or soccer sites. Once the cash is paid the agent disappears.One Spanish teenager lost over £1,000. Another from Australia flew to Manchester after handing over money and booking a flight.Many victims are from poor African countries and are left ruined.Ibrahim Osman of Ghana, just 15, was approached by someone claiming to be official British agent James Barrett, led to believe he had been offered a contract at LA Galaxy and asked to pay £300 for a work permit.Ibrahim explains: “When he offered me the contract I thought my life had changed. It is my life's dream to play at the highest level and show to the world http://www.okfifacoins.com  my talent. PA When I realised there was no contract I was so down-hearted. I was devastated.”The real Barrett has vowed to sue the perpetratorif he's unmasked. To expose the con we posed as a teenage Tunisian studying in the UK and approached a con-artist also masquerading as Barrett.We were promptly offered a deal with Hull City and sent a forged “letter of intent” supposedly signed by manager Steve Bruce.The letter-headed document offered a lucrative contract – once a £500 fee was paid to the agent.Another faker, posing as agent Jordan Francombe, promised: “We have trials at FIFA FC. The ongoing soccer tryout registration fee is £1,000.”And when we asked one crook claiming to be FIFA -registered agent Alex Kroes about trials with Chelsea he said: “Me and the manager Jose Mourinho are friends.”The clubs know nothing of the fake deals and are furious their names are used.Many fraudsters ask for money to be paid into UK bank accounts and give British addresses as contact points.A banking loophole which means the payee name and account name on bank transfers do not have to match helps convince victims they are paying into official coffers.Victims are given an account number and sort code and payees with names like FIFA FC.We tested the system by making a bank transfer to a Barclays personal accountbut replacing the correct payee name with “Tranmere Rovers”. It went through without question.Barclays told us afterwards: “Barclays complies with all regulatory requirements, including identification and verification checks. Barclays has no way of knowing customers will be using the account for fraudulent purposes..”The crooks also use a weakness on the FIFA website where agent names are listed with no contact details, helping scammers to steal identities and set up webmail accounts in the name of agents.The FIFA has now issued guidance to all licensed agents to put full details on the site.Jake Marsh, Sports Integrity Investigator with the International Centre for Sports Security has probed the con and is working with FIFA bodies to raise awareness.He says: “These criminals go so far as faking managers' signatures, contract documents, letters from clubs and even healthcare forms.
