Welcome new members. Having to say hello for the first time in a new place can be a very daunting experience. We know, we've had to face the onslaught of the Spandex (if you're new, this probably will apply to you but don't worry - it's mostly harmless) ;) but don't worry, we're here to help.
A few tips for you which may make your introductions a little easier to do:
1. If you're introducing yourself, it's well-advised to say more than just "Hi". The more you say, the more likely you are to receive replies!
2. Cockiness has its place but unfortunately, only those who have been around for a verrrrrry long time can usually pull it off. Avoid this in your first post if you can (unless of course, you feel utterly compelled to do so but don't say I didn't warn you: refer to spandex attacks above)]

(6) (Edited in by GamesLaw) -- Some of us here have quite a bit of experience in the industry. We are very open to newcomers and love to give advice, so long as you are willing to do the preparation work. If you're coming in here with a question like "How do I work in games?" you're going to get laughed out of the park. Google it. Do some research on your own. On the other hand, we'll be more than happy to help if you have a more specific question like "Which program is right for me?" or "Should I learn this language or that language" or "I want to do "x" in the industry. Where are some studios that are hiring?" Simply put, don't ask us for things you can look up yourself. If you're not even able to do that, you're not going to get a job in the industry.
