MMO publisher Frogster says that it will not give in to the demands of a hacker who is trying blackmail the company over issues with Runes of Magic community management. The hacker issued a litany of demands last month and threatened to release payment and account details of thousands of Runes of Magic users if his demands went unanswered.
He showed his seriousness by releasing details from 2000 accounts. The data is from 2007, so much of it is outdated, but [URL=http://www.frogster.de/en/news,id283,official_response_hacker_attack_on_frogster.html#news283]Frogster[/URL] made a statement in January saying that it had done a number of things to insure the security and integrity of Runes of Magic account data.
The company claims that after the publication of the threat, it inspected all of its systems for vulnerabilities and backdoors, implemented new firewalls, added new user privileges and passwords, and further security measures.
