MCV reports that MTV Games has shut down in international office and only a few employees remain in the division's New York City offices to tie up loose ends. Viacom has said earlier in the year that it wanted to get out of the games business, and later in the year sold Harmonix for around $50 to investment firm Columbus Nova.
MCV says that the company's international offices were working on a deal with Harmonix to distribute games in Europe, but the deal was apparently shunned in favor of a shutdown. The International offices were headed up by Roy Campbell. The company closed its doors on Wednesday.
MTV Games and parent company Viacom have made no public comment on this story.
