Sony tells Edge Magazine that it is "looking into" a recent hack that unlocks the security to its PlayStation 3 console. Sony plans to try to fix some of the "problem" with a series of network updates. The problem is that, the security key that unlocks the systems can't be fixed with a network update.. Sony is not commenting on that part of the story.
The PlayStation 3's security problems began when hacking group fail0verflow announced the discovery of the system's security key. The group didn't release the information, but George "GeoHot" Hotz - who also had a hand in helping to jailbreak the iPhone - released the key online. Most recently a hacker created the first hacked firmware update that allowed PS3 users to install other operating systems.
