If you’re over 30 years old, chances are you grew up with an arcade nearby. The game room that helped shape my youth was right on Main Street and featured two rows of arcade units, one down each side of a long shotgun-shack style room.
It’s still easy to remember exactly where each game was placed… as you entered, the front left was reserved for pinball machines—never my cup of tea—after which came Defender, Stargate, Omega Race (a favorite) and a sit down Missile Command. The right hand side of the arcade was all stand-up units, and included Moon Patrol, BattleZone (another favorite), Centipede, Robotron, Tempest and a few others.
