Auto maker Chevrolet, in conjunction with Microsoft Advertising, has concocted a plan to use the Xbox 360’s motion-control technology to drum up interest in its electric car launching later this year.

In addition to creating video advertisements that will be available for viewing on Xbox Live and the Internet, 360 and Kinect owners will be able to unlock a Chevy Volt for use in the Kinect Joy Ride game, and pilot the vehicle using only their arms.

Calling the electric car, “One of the most exciting developments the automotive industry has seen in years,” Chevrolet Marketing’s U.S. VP Jim Campbell, stated, “Our marketing campaign needs to reflect this. Kinect allows us to bring the excitement of the showroom to the living rooms of our customers. It’s a way for us to replicate the experience of physically engaging with a product that is essential to the customer’s purchasing decision.”
