Sony Pictures Animation has apparently picked up the movie rights to RollerCoaster Tycoon, proving that no game is safe from the clutches of clueless Hollywood executives. The film will be based on Chris Sawyers popular strategy building series and directed by Harald Zwart, who most recently remade the Karate Kid with Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan.
RollerCoaster Tycoon is a pretty popular PC game that in its lifetime has managed to generate $300 million dollars is sales worldwide and the distinction of being the third best selling PC game of all time in the United States.
It makes you wonder if Hollywood has run out of ideas at this point - Karate Kid, Star Trek, 3:10 to Yuma, Nightmare on Elm Street are good indicators that Hollywood needs writers!
