Capcom chairman Kenzo Tsujimoto has produced some awesome video games in his times, but now he's trying his hand at something a bit more refined: wine. Tsujimoto is the proud owner of Kenzo Estate, a business that began with the purchase of several thousand acres on the slopes of Mt. George in the Napa Valley in the 1990's.
Kenzo Estate makes a variety of wines but it main focus is Rindo, a red blend named for the Japanese word for gentians, which is $75. Tsujimoto says that his lower priced wines can compete with others costing hundreds more per bottle because of the quality. That quality comes from vines grown under the supervision of renowned viticulturist David Abreu and wine made by consulting winemaker Heidi Barrett.
The wines are available at the recently opened tasting room, but are primarily distributed to the Japanese market and to select U.S. restaurants.
