An Alabama man has one million reasons to love 2KSports' MLB 2K10 even more than he already did. 24 year old Wade McGilberry, of Semmes, Ala., entered a contest earlier in the year to be the first person to pitch a perfect baseball game in the video game "MLB 2K10." He managed to pull it off and was rewarded with a giant check from 2K Sports for $1 million USD.

His win was announced officially this morning on the CBS Early Show. The funny thing is, he wasn't much of a sports game fan prior to this contest from 2K Sports. The million dollars made him take a break from games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Halo 3 to give winning the contest his full attention.

McGilberry said that his first attempts at pitching the perfect game would usually end at the fifth inning. But after playing several games he figured out what he needed to do and with a lot of hard work managed to pitch the perfect game. He says that ever since that time, McGilberry has yet to repeat that magical moment.

McGilberry's reward came as a total surprise because 2K Games called McGilberry and told him that he was a "finalist" in the contest.

[INDENT]"They actually called me on Sunday afternoon and told me they were going to come and they had to check out my Xbox because I was one of the finalists and they had to make sure that I didn't have the Xbox rigged," he told Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith.[/INDENT] But instead, they showed up with an oversized check for $1 million like a Publisher's Clearinghouse commercial. McGilberry plans to pay off his mortgage, and start a family with whatever money is left over. Good man.
