In an [URL=http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/]open letter[/URL] Apple CEO Steve Jobs came out swinging yesterday, saying that his company's devices (iPhone, iPod, iPad) will not support Adobe's Flash. Jobs says that Adobe has characterized its decision to not use Flash as "being primarily business driven" because Apple wants to protect its App Store, but says his decision is based on technology issues.
He claims that Flash is not a open platform (calling them "100 percent proprietary"), drains the battery of mobile devices (decoding video in software uses too much power), has reliability, security and performance problems, and offers no support for touch devices.
