Bungie announced today that it has inked a 10 year deal with Activision for its next franchise. What, Microsoft wouldn't pay enough money? Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Bungie did one smart thing with this deal: at the end of it all, it, and not Activision, will own the rights to this new intellectual property.
This is the first partnership since the company bought back its independence from Microsoft in 2007. Only the company that created an ultra popular franchise like Halo could’ve survived an acquisition from the likes of MS. The only part of the deal that Bungie might regret later on is that the deal is a 10 year long exclusive partnership.
No word on when we'll hear more about Bungie's newest franchise but Activision has to be giddier than a school girl at a Justin Bieber concert. We'll keep you posted.
