Nintendo DS users that have type-1 diabetes may be interested to know about Bayer's new DIDGET blood glucose meter. The DIDGET connects to the DS and DS Lite and gives users points for testing blood sugar levels and meeting blood-glucose targets.
While it operates like most blood-glucose meters on the market today, the DIDGET comes with an online component that is only available DIDGET users. This online world lets users interact with other diabetes patients and play games from the Nintendo DS. The idea behind the meter and the software associated with it, is to make the experience of checking your blood sugar a little bit more fun.
The device sells for $74.99, and even though you don't need a DS to use it, it will probably a lot more fun if you have one - for obvious reasons.
