Indy Car driver Danica Patrick has never been afraid to push boundaries. Now she is pushing a new one as she will voice a character in the upcoming video game Blur from Activision.
Patrick has had interviews with USA Today and Sports Illustrated in recent days talking about her involvement, but the way she talks makes it fairly obvious she is not a gamer. From her USA TODAY interview:
"An opportunity to play a really cool role in a video game came up and I tried the game out and it was really fun and really easy," Patrick says. "That's good for me because I am not exactly that great at them. It was fun and I liked the game and I thought it would be fun to play that role. I'm not the hugest game person but this one kind of tripped my trigger."
And this also from USA Today when she talked about the game:
"It's not just cars against cars," Patrick says. "It's cars against cars with the ability to pick up these things called power-ups. They are all kinds of different things — you can protect yourself or fix your car, shoot at other cars, you can blow them up or hit the boost."
Patrick doesn't want to reveal everything about her part in the game, for which she did voiceover dialogue. "You need to play the game to know which character I play, but I'm probably a pretty good driver," she says. "The interesting part is where you meet me."
In a Sports Illustrated article, she likes the idea of playing with friends:
