We recently posted an article relating to games and music which discussed how crucial music can be in a video game. GameCulture recently caught up with musician and gaming music guru Sascha Dikiciyan (on the right in the image above), one part of the two-man 'tour-de-force' responsible for music created for games such as Borderlands, Dark Messiah, Prototype and MAG.
GameCulture: You’ve probably had to answer this question before but we’re really keen to know how you came up with the name “Sonic Mayhem”.
Sascha: Well to be honest, I don’t remember all the details about that name. I think at the time being of course very much into Industrial music, we wanted a name that sounded more like a band then a company. I think we confused plenty of people for a long time cause I still get asked if we are a band or what.
GameCulture: An important question for us to know – are you a gamer and if so, what is your favorite game or type of game to play?
Sascha: But of course. I started with the Atari game system in the 70s, moved onto a Commodore vic-20 in ‘82, moved onto a Amiga, Atari ST, Apple and PC. I played pretty much everything out there. Favorite game types are the first person shooters and *gasp* adventure games. Yes, the old Lucasarts games were so amazing. Games like Indy and the fate of Atlantis, Monkey Island series, x-wing games. I mean those were just awesome games. Currently just started to play “Heavy Rain” and it's excellent in every way. But I do miss some of the complexity games like “System Shock 2” had in today's games.
