Hello Everyone,
I see many people here talking about breaking into the games industry.
I was successful in doing so Last year in Jan 2009. I was the support and community manager for Hi-rez Studios. Unfortunately things changed at the game company I worked for, sales didnt go exactly as planned, so I got laid off due to no more work being available for me.
I have some things going for me. My name is credited on a game title Global Agenda, I went through the entire game development process from start to release.
I know many of you are trying very hard to get in but getting in is not necessarily all there is. Its staying in that is the challenge. Now that I am out in the wind again I have hit the pavement looking for anything in the industry for people with my skills. No luck so far.
While trying very hard to get into the industry remember that staying in it seems to be as much of a challenge as getting in.
So is working in video games still my Dream? Yes.
Will it happen again overnight. No, not even with experience does it seem that I will be getting anything anytime soon.
I have hit every gaming company locally in Georgia and I am expanding to other markets like california and Texas but still nothing.
The main point being its one thing to get in, its still another to stay in.
