In a bid to assist its reach among the so-called Millennial Generation (or Generation Y) demographic, [URL=http://www.wmich.edu/]Western Michigan University[/URL] is experimenting with a series of tech-laden initiatives.
One such concept at the Kalamazoo-based school, [URL=http://www.mlive.com/news/kalamazoo/index.ssf/2010/04/western_michigan_university_lo_1.html]according to MLIve.com[/URL], involves creating an online role-playing game aimed at high-school seniors. The game would allow prospective WMU-attendees to simulate normal day-to-day activities at the school, such as enrolling for classes, selecting a major and living in dorms.
Dubbed Broncoland, the game would also serve up challenges to its players, such as “realizing their textbook budget isn’t adequate or that a class they need is full.” Such obstacles could help high-school students prepare for life on the big campus, said Professor Robert Wertkin, We want them to start thinking about these life, environmental and college challenges before they get here.”
