Speaking of the unspeakably beautiful: What if some of the most interesting, poignant animation you've seen in a long long time was also a student-made videogame? You'd post it immediately, that's what you'd do. Check out this video 'walkthrough' of Ulitsa Dimitrova, one of the 2010 IGF Student Finalists. It's a game about a chain-smoking, seven-year-old homeless kid named Pjotre who wanders the streets of St. Petersburg, hunting for nails and just about anything to keep himself busy and warm. Lea Schönfelder got the idea for Ulitsa Dimitrova while visiting her brother who worked with homeless children like Pjotre in St. Petersburg. Don't stop at the video, the whole wonder of this animation is that you get to interact with it. Download it here now, and, no, don't go grab a pack of smokes first.
