[B]Today is a day for beautiful things.[/B] This morning I sat on my porch with my coffee and wondered at the startlingly clear light landing on the base of a eucalyptus in my yard. The tree's trunk is thick and sturdy, about two feet in diameter, and I managed to catch the day at the point where it was precisely half shaded, half lit from where I sat, drawing what seemed like every possible surface detail of its texture into unbelievably sharp relief. A truly amazing moment that reminded me of [URL=http://www.molleindustria.org/everydaythesamedream/everydaythesamedream.html][I]Every Day the Same Dream[/I][/URL], which I've been obsessing about, in this case the step where your silent worker bee character steps out of his car in the middle of a traffic jam to lay his hand on the nose of a cow and then stumbles onto a single glowing leaf as it drifts loose from a branch and sails into your hand.

And then I found this image from [URL=http://www.littlelostpoly.co.uk/devblog/?p=521]Robert Briscoe's[/URL] reworking of his strange Half-Life 2 mod, [URL=http://www.moddb.com/mods/dear-esther]Dear Esther[/URL]. A cross between Myst and Lost and (well, actually is a cross between Myst and Lost really a "cross" at all?) and a Steven King nightmare, [I]Dear Esther[/I] is getting a makeover. Maybe it's actually a makethrough, though, since the game was never completely 'finished.' At any rate, this is some of the most beautifully haunting game art I've ever seen. You really do need to look at it in [URL=http://www.littlelostpoly.co.uk/devblog/?p=521]high res[/URL] to fully appreciate it.
