[B]One of my favorite shooters, QUAKE LIVE has celebrated its first year anniversary by hosting a special event that runs from Feb 23 - Mar 9. The event will give players who participate a special "Year One" achievement award to add to their profile. Players will also get access to a brand new map called "Fallout Bunker".[/B]

Over a quarter million players created accounts right after its launch and that was through word of mouth only! Since that time, players have spent over 8.9 million hours in over 60 million ranked matches, earning an impressive 8 million awards and 810 million frags.[/INDENT] QUAKE LIVE was introduced to the competitive arena for the first time at QuakeCon 2009 with the QUAKE LIVE Masters Championship and the QUAKE LIVE Open Tourney. QUAKE LIVE is now partnered with the ESL (Electronic Sports League) to provide a global competitive arena for QUAKE LIVE gamers.

I wasn't sure how a browser-based version of Quake would work and found that by connecting to local servers, the game runs exceptionally well. The networking aspect of QUAKE LIVE is also very cool. You can add friends, message them and look up in-depth statistics for gamers as well as monitoring your own (right down to how many games you quit, win or lose).
