If you love videogames, then you probably have a few curios around the house that show off your love: a stuffed Mario, a Link figurine, a Sonic poster. Just a few simple things to showcase your fascination with your favorite pastime.
Brett Martin of Colorado has taken it a step further ... OK, maybe a few miles further ... with the creation of the Video Game Memorabilia Museum. Created back in 2005, the museum shows off all of the things Martin has collected over the years. Some he has gotten on his own, while others he has found through sales. The site is filled with hundreds of pictures showing his collection.
We caught up with Martin for a brief interview:
GameCulture: You have an incredible collection of videogame memorablia. How long have you been collecting it and where have you gotten it from?
Brett Martin: Thank you. I've been collecting 10 years, hunting on eBay to start, and branching out to various online stores and eventually Yahoo Japan Auctions, where the bulk of my items come from.
GC: What is your most interesting story about how you acquired an item?
BM: As you can imagine I have several. One of my best would be the items I received while being a Ambassador for Nintendo. I was the Denver Ambassador before launch and was chosen to be one because of the collection, and the program actually went on for longer than anyone expected. Nintendo kept sending me Wii and DS games (along with the systems), and even some swag like Mario and Luigi hats and a Super Mario Sluggers jersey and sports bag.
