Yesterday, a humongous earthquake centered around Port-au-Prince hit Haiti. The results of this are so bad I literally am not allowed to post at least 90% of the images on this forum. This should provide enough of them.

The part of the post where your first-world ass is assaulted by horrific truths
This is especially bad because its Haiti, one of the poorest nations on earth, and eternal plaything of the first world. If you've ever learned the difference between relative and absolute poverty, then you can consider Haiti one of the most extreme documented examples of the latter. The poorest in Port-au-Prince, making up much of its population, have to resort to literally eating mud

The humanitarian situation in Haiti isn't something western (especially us-) media likes to talk about, so this is probably the first time many of you will hear about it.
The situation is now so bad that many of the humanitarian aid organizations already present now need help themselves, having been hit by the earthquake.
The part of the post where you dry your bourgeois tears and donate to some charities
Oxfam would be a good charity to donate to right now. They do good work and are already struggling.
Americans can also donate 10 bucks to the Red Cross by doing this:
"To help, text "HAITI" to "90999" and a donation of $10 will be given automatically to the Red Cross to help with relief efforts, charged to your cell phone bill."
Other suggestions will be put here as well.
