Good morning everyone!
After 5 years of being a mechanic, I have realized that although I enjoy working on cars, I don't want to do this for a living for the rest of my life. Its time to go back to school and pursue a career in something that I will enjoy.
I have become interested in working in the gaming industry again. When I was getting ready to graduate high school working on video games was something that i really wanted to do, but for some reason I didn't. Now I have decided to go to school to learn game art. Although there are many choices for schools for some reason Full Sail jumped out at me. I have done some preliminary investigation of different schools and Full Sail still seems to be the front runner for a number of reasons:
1. It is an accelerated program at 32 months long.
2. They have an online program. (I am unable to move to a new location to attend school, and must retain a full time job while I am a student)
3. Their curriculum seems to cover more aspects of game art (charachter modeling, rigging, animation, etc)
It is for these reasons and some others that I have been leaning to this school. However this is a big step and I am still hungry for information. I have been hoping to find a place to ask industry professionals their opinion, and I have found a place to do that!
1. Does anyone know If the program at Full Sail is a good one? I have read many reviews of this school and many of them seem to be negative. However most of the reviews I came across were for their music related programs.
2. Is Full Sail worth the money? Their program is quite expensive with an estimated total cost at $60,000. This is alot of money, but worth it If their instruction is good.
3. As an industry professional, If you were hiring a team for a project and an interviewee had attended Full Sail how would hold that information with regards to the applicant.
4. Do you know anyone who finished the Game Art program there, who would be willing to talk with me via e-mail to answer some questions I have about the school itself?
Thank you, for reading my long post and for any helpful information you might have.
