Honestly I was kinda on the wall about this movie for awhile, but I went to see it yesterday and found myself very entertained. Even a few of the Star Trek cliches are still to be found, like the unimportant tag along that ALWAYS dies. As a summer action movie its fantastic and still retains a good chunk of what made Star Trek what it was/is. Zachary Quinto also makes a convincing Spock, which is good. [spoiler]considering the final scene between Nimoy's Spock and Quinto's Spock can be seen as a passing of the torch[/spoiler]

HOWEVER, it was lacking some of the technical things that Star Trek has been known for in the past. So leave that part of your inner trekkie checked at the door cause you won't find alot of it here. Sadly I don't see this aspect coming back anytime soon since this "reboot" is trying to make it appeal to a larger audience, which it does do this very well but like I said earlier, it does leave older trekkies out in the cold.

Beyond that, you'll laugh at a few character quirks (Scotty!!!!) and enjoy Nimoy's reappearance. Personally it doesn't upset my favorite Star Trek Movie, First Contact, which in my book IS the star trek movie to beat, but definitely worth spending your $10.
