I notice today that The ECA is pushing for broadband for everyone. This is a government run program that would allow everyone access to broadband through the government rather than private industry.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that means that the governemt then has total control over our access to the internet. If it wants to block somone that has an opinion that the government doesn't like, it can but shut down, and most likely without our knowledge since the greatest source of information will be controled by our government.
Look at China for example; China required that Google alter it's search engine to omit search resluts that may be detrimental to China's plan for its population.
I just don't think this is a very good idea and would like to hear the argument for government provided internet access.
By the way, I am all for as many people as possible having access to the internet.
