I'm 7 weeks into a learn to run program, specifically the "Learn to Run 10K" part of this. Since I started in March and had no intention of doing the Sun Run, I've been ignoring the specific dates on the pdf -- I printed out the relevant section, wrote days of the week on it in pen, and then taped it to my wall at eye level right beside my door.
Checking off each completed run is extremely satisfying. Today I ran 10 minutes and walked 1, repeated 4 times, and despite the pouring rain, I felt great during and afterwards. For me this was a great achievement: although I trained for and ran a single 5K race back in highschool, I gave up jogging shortly thereafter and have been largely out of shape ever since.
My goal right now is to push on and eventually get to the point where I can run 10K (for the first time in my life!), but I've already given up running once, so... while I feel pretty good about the training program right now, I'm well aware that I could slip up at any time and then never go back to it. Hence this thread :)
So, my fellow forumites, I'm sure there are at least a few joggers among you, or at least beginners like me. Anyone got any tips, tricks, or general anecdotes?
