I'd like to see a new major for the Bachelor of Arts degree.
Literary And Script Writing For Interactive Media.
Such a degree would prepare students for advanced writing styles and skills needed to go beyond the linear writing styles of static media such as books, magazines, and newspapers.
Not only does it need to deal with advanced overall storytelling methods, but it also needs to teach writing the scripts for advanced AI situations. AIs may be programmed to be intelligent, but they don't pull their words out of their limbo regions.
Also writing for the emotional AI is needed to be trained.
And, writing scripts that not only express words but emotions to make translation for the programmer easier needs to be trained.
There is a lot of emphasis on educating teh Art of visual and audio, but little on the delivery of a story and how it's presented. Eventually, the technology will either leave us with flashier same-ole same-ole, or we'll be truly heading into the new frontier of interactive media with all sorts of possibilities open to us.
