I've been reading the articles here on GamePolitics diligently for only about a month, but have read some posts in passing before. I am a graduate student in Chicago, pursuing a Master's in Liberal Studies--focusing on Religious & Ethical Studies.
My short-term interest in the site is due to a paper I'm writing for a class titled "Moral Reform in America." I'm writing on the exceedingly broad topic of videogame legislation and regulation, pre- and post-Hot Coffee. The professor teaching the class is a sociologist, so I'm attempting to establish "frames" that various groups utilize to make their arguments in the various debates and court cases.
My long-term interest is an extension of the short-term one explained above. I'm interested in First Amendment rights and the challenges videogame publishers and developers face. I hope to learn a lot.
