Hi, I sometimes post on GP's front page and consider myself an ally of Dennis and Hal Halpin. I run a small grassroots activist archive called "GamerDad.com" where I "Go Beyond the ESRB" by giving more information than you can fit on the back of a box. My main target audience with GamerDad are mainstream parents clueless about video games and made scared by poor news coverage and anti-videogame forces. Secondary are GamerParents. And I also launched GameSanityBlog to help connect with you guys - informed, passionate, gamers.
I'm writing this message because at the beginning of the month I was struck down by a massive heart attack requiring several surgeries, quadrupal bypass, and a whole lot of fear for my wife and family. My wife - GamerMom - wrote a plea for support and donations and this was picked up by several Internet communities including Penny-Arcade and GamePolitics. Dennis covered the story here: http://gamepolitics.com/2007/09/14/gamerdad-suffers-heart-attack-needs-help/
I want to personally thank each and every one of you who visited, commented, donated, and sent support. You made my wife cry, she had no idea how kind gamers could be. You made me proud. And please check out this story Dennis covered (if you missed it): http://gamepolitics.com/2007/09/19/gamerdad-out-of-hospital-on-the-mend/
It's about how all this happened and why my mission is renewed and stronger than ever. Thank you Dennis and GamePolitics. I'm proud to work alongside you.
