For those of you who don't remember, back about 5 or so years a go, a PS2 top down shooter called Sylpheed: the lost planet, hit the market. By treasure games, it was a frentic, chaotic game that sent tons of baddies at you.
Project Slypheed, while carrying the name, doesn't carry the same style of game play.
BUt, that doesn't stop it from being an awesome game.
While made by Square enix, and thus having a somewhat more story focused style, the game still gives joystick jockeys what they have always wanted.
Lots of **** to blow up, and tons of ways to do it. From lock on missles to a gravity powered cannon, this game has no shortage of weapons.
Story? It's the usual. Lunatic woman forms rebel force, seeks vengance for her father and plans to destroy earth to get it.
Yep, and its your job to stop her.
Whats that mean? Pretty much waht you think .Defend your ships, blow up there ships. Yeah, not really all that complex, but still lots of fun.
Graphicly the game is solid, inparticular it's visuals, special effects, and high level combat activity. Cap ships blow up spectacualry and leave a mess behind. Some weapons can salvo 40 missles into a squad of fighters and devestate them, some are big heavy rockets for use against bigger warships, and some, well, some are just there for fun mostly.
After playing through it, I must say it was kinda short, but the game is great while it lasts and has multiple difficulties for you to try. As well as many achievments to get.
So, if your like me and miss the days of Freespace or wind commander, This game might just be the ticket: :
