I learnt via Joystiq and Kotaku that The Times wrote a crappy and sensationnalistic article about the Wii. I read it, and... oh boy, it brought me back in the late 80's-early 90's, with all the moral panic about epillepsy, Oprah Winfrey's "Nintendo Zombies", NCTV's claims that 85% of NES games were "extremely violent", yada, yada...
In France, we have the "règle des trois L", the "three 'L' rule". This rule says "on Lèche, on Lâche, on Lynche". Translation : first, I Lick, then I Leave, and finally I Lynch. It's a common rule in mainstream media about a lot of topics, such as politics and politicians who are once their hero before becoming a pariah. I guess that some in the mainstream media were tired to "lick" the Wii, so they decided to "leave" it.
