Hai [OT], I need some help.

I'm making a work of fiction, the plot being that all the world's magic, religion, and mythology can all be explained as psychic phenomena. I'll break it down here-

=Concepts=

NOTE: Keep in mind, this isn't what the plot is about, that would make up for some dull reading. This is instead the explanation for WHY things happen the way they do.

The soul- When a human or animal dies, the same neural fluid used in psychic powers condense and release into a round, psychic "head" with a "tail" of ectoplasm. The more ectoplasm, the more powerful the soul. Given enough psychokinetic power, a soul can shape it's ectoplasm into an "ideal form", usually it's appearance in life.

Telekinesis- The most basic psychic power, and often the most difficult the first time around. Strands of controlled, neutral ectoplasm wrap around the object of choice and allow the user to move it.

Pyrokinesis- A gooey, thick, very flammable ectoplasm is created and moved around psychokinetically. For beginners, the spark may require outside assistance, but experts can create flame (literally) with a snap of the fingers.

Hydro/Cryokinesis- Creates a very cold, more rigid ectoplasm that cools water vapor into water, or, given more focus, ice.

Runes- Can be as complex as a carved stone or as simple as sharpie, these symbols create a "path" for psychic energy, and can be used to do anything from enhancing strength to bringing golems/zombies to life.

Psychics- Spiritually aware humans. Normally passed down genetically, psychic ability can also be "awoken" by traumatic experience or contact with another spiritually-aware being. There are two types-
*Mediums- Constitute almost 80% of psychics. Normally cannot see spirits but can hear and/or feel them.
*Sages- Making up only a little over 10% of all psychics, can see, hear, and touch spiritual phenomena.

Poltergeist- Sourceless ectoplasm, usually cut from a spiritual organism. If large enough, they can cause chaos by mindlessly throwing around anything it comes into contact with.

Nymphs- An animal or human soul that has gathered enough power to retain a human form, usually specializing in one form of psychic ability, including earth, wind, fire, and water.

Releasers and Deliverers- "Grim Reapers" and "Angels" respectively. Both are nymphs specializing in dark (Negative emotion) and Light (Positive emotion). Critical to the plot is that anything taken to the extreme is bad, that while too much darkness culminates in evil and hatred, good taken to the extreme is righteousness and zeal, both being able to lead to murder.

=What I need help with=

Vampires- Two "tribes" of soul-eaters, the Alucard (Obtain their food through murder) and the Lilith (Obtain their food through sexual means). My problem is plausibly describing their cause. I thought originally, maybe if the spiritual realm developed parallel to the physical realm, vampirism could be a spiritual "disease". And then I hated myself for having such a stupid idea. Any idea?

The Releaser's scythe- Releaser's "ideal weapon" is that of a scythe, and sends souls to "the other side". Ironically, many releasers are atheists because they have no idea what happens to that soul on the other side or if there even is one. The releasers simply do it because they'll die if they do not. My problem is, where would they get this scythe? How does it do that?

Gargoyles- Small winged "demons" that prey on physical beings. Two examples would be the jersey devil and la chupacabra. I've got nothing. I can't think of any reason how/why a spiritual being would take physical form to prey on animals.

Dragons- Key beings to almost every mythological system on Earth. But, as with gargoyles, I can't think of an explanation for their physical forms.
