I don't know, ever since Sleepy Hollow didn't win for cinematography, it seems I get more and more disappointed with the Oscars each year. Speaking of cinematography, Miami Vice really should have been nominated... I just watched Collateral again two days ago. Dion Beebe is a master. Actually, I'm looking him up on the IMDB right now and he did win last year for Memoirs of a Geisha. I'd guess that's why he wasn't nominated this year, ruling out the possiblity that I'm just a die-hard Michael Mann fanboy, of course ;) . Another movie that should have been nominated was Silent Hill. The atmosphere in that film was outstanding. I've seen three of the films that did get nominated for cinematography. The Black Dahlia looked pretty good and there were some shining moments in Children of Men, but I'm rooting for The Prestige to win.

I think The Prestige also should have been nominated for costume design, and Silent Hill really deserved nods for costumes, make-up and visual effects.

Well, there are my two cents...hopefully this thread won't dissolve into flame-wars over the achievments in sound editing, and we won't have any posts along the lines of "Equilibrium=worst cinematography evar, Dion Beebe is the sux0rs!!!11" :D
