I like zombies. I like zombies in movies. I even like zombies in videogames. So what's not to say about liking zombies in literature as well? That's why I picked up Max Brook's "World War Z". If you don't know who Max Brooks is, he is the author of the tounge-in-cheek "Zombie Survival Guide".

The book is set after the events of the so called "Zombie War". Brooks travels all across the globe and interviews people from all walks of life. Every person has their own writing style and it shows in the dialouge exchanged between Brooks and the person who is interviewed. Some people are calm and cool about the post-war effect and others are so abrasive in their choice of word it would make a sailor squeem in utter anxiety.

What's interesting to note is that it has a lot of socio-political and geo-political commentary. The effects of the war have planted seeds for new regimes to popup and new governments to be established. There are even some nods and references at pop culture including one bit where a certain political comedian is knocking boots with a certain blonde ultra-conservative pundit.

A movie is supposed to be made based on the book. The way I see it being executed perfectly is if the movie were to take into the form of a psuedo-documentary. Hopefully it won't be a complete and total cluster**** with the source material being ripped to shreds.

Gripes aside, I seriously reccommend reading this if you're into the politics of a post-apocolyptic world or if you just need a fix of some campfire stories involving hoardes of the undead.
